Imagine a picture of you and your lemur by some significant landmark, next to a picture of me and my lemur at Zoka, next to a picture of Daniel Jalkut and his lemur in front of the pool at MIT, next to a picture of Dirk Stoop and his lemur in Amsterdam.
What if the fact we all had matching lemurs actually stood for something? The lemur you held in your picture would represent the lemur you'd saved in Madagascar. It would be a badge of honor to show you did your part to make a difference in this world.

*Mac usage and programming experience are not actual requirements for membership. Club Thievey is open to anyone who wants to save lemurs and make the world a better place.
Go directly to the donation form:
Club Thievey is an attempt to make this crazy idea into reality. Here’s how it works, in 5 simple steps:
-
1.Set up a one-time donation of at least $100, or a recurring monthly donation of at least $10, with the Madagascar Fauna Group.
-
Donations to the Madagascar Fauna Group are tax-deductible!
-
2.Send your receipt, shipping address, and phone number to club@ this domain.
-
3.I will buy you a plush lemur just like Thievey and have it shipped directly to you. I will also foot the bill for international shipping.
-
4.When you receive your lemur, take a picture with it, or of it, if you wish to remain anonymous.
-
5.I will post the picture along with your lemur’s name and location, and optionally, your name.
If you would like to use your donation as a gift, I can include a 240-character gift message with the lemur. Just let me know when you send me your receipt.
About this site
I made this site to distance Club Thievey from my blog, because I don’t want this to look like some kind of poorly thought out publicity stunt, and because I want people to be able to share the link without worrying about it have obscenities in the title. As such, I’ve included reprints of relevant blog entries:
-
Meet Thievey - which demonstrates some of the adventures you can have with your new lemur.
-
Dinosaur Ranch - which explains why lemurs and Madagascar are so important as to be worth all this trouble...
-
The Power of Charity - which explores new ways of thinking about charity and some other crazy ideas for changing the world.
I am open to suggestions and appreciate any help. You can email me at club@ this domain, AIM me at piperskygod or tweet at me at bmf.
Please spread the word!
